Cultural and scientific values of wet collections

Methods of preservation in spirit have been used for various type of specimens. They are still part of the collections of different museums, universities, and curiosity cabinets. Some of them were artistic creations, or didactic material and are sometimes still displayed to the public. However, a lot of them are often restricted to researchers only.

The Work Package 1 of the LIQUOR project focuses on defining the cultural values, among others the scientific and/or research values attached to the various collections of specimens in fluid. We are more precisely interested in understanding if and how these specimens are used by the institutions and studied by scientists in the scope of their research.
